Mixed Doubles Championship
American teenagers pair Melanie Oudin and Jack Sock beat the Argentine pairing of Gisela Dulko and Eduardo Schwank 7-6(4) 4-6 10-8 (tiebreak) to win the mixed doubles final at National Tennis Center on September 9, 2011. The pair were only allowed to play in the competition after organisers granted them a wildcard.

The US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, Queens, is one of the premier sporting events in the world. The United States Open Tennis Championships commonly known as ‘US Open’ is a hardcourt tennis tournament. It is the fourth and final tennis major comprising the Grand Slam each year; the other three are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.The two-week tournament is held every August and September at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The main tournament consists of five different event championships: Men’s and Women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, with additional tournaments for senior, junior, and wheelchair players.Tennis matches occur during the day (11 a.m.) and at night (7 p.m.) on most days of the tournament, and are held in several venues within the grounds of the USTA National Tennis Center. Arthur Ashe Stadium hosts the top-seeded matches and the finals.
Men’s Singles Championships
World No.1 Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic won the Men’s Single title over Rafael Nadal in 2011. It was his first US Open title, and fourth slam overall for his career. This win was his third slam of the year to go along with his Australian Open and Wimbledon triumphs. Novak Djokovic defeated defending champion Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1 to capture his first US Open title.
Women’s Singles Championship
In one of the most stunning upsets in US Open history, Australian Samantha Stosur shocked 13-time Grand Slam champion and three-time US Open champion Serena Williams, 6-2, 6-3, to win her first major title. She became Australia’s first Grand Slam singles champion since 1980.
Men’s Doubles Championship
Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner captured the men’s doubles title at the U.S. Open on September 10, 2011. The pair, seeded ninth, beat the sixth seeds, Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski of Poland 6-2 6-2 in just 48 minutes. It was the first U.S. Open win for Melzer, from Austria, and Petzschner, of Germany, but their second grand slam success after they won Wimbledon last year.
Women’s Doubles Championship
Fourth seeds Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond outlasted defending US Open women’s doubles champions Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova, edging the No. 3 seeds 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) in a dramatic two-hour-and-47-minute final to win their first major title together.King and Shvedova were aiming to win their fourth team title. They captured titles at Wimbledon and the US Open last year and in Cincinnati this season.
